On January 17, 2019, Luis Suarez scored his 167th goal with Barca against Levante in the Copa del Rey. That put the Uruguayan striker tied squarely at 5th place with Josep Escolà in terms of goals scored with the club. 4 days later on January 21, he scores again against Leganes in La Liga, officially making him the 5th top goalscorer with 168 goals in 224 appearances. All of that in just over 4 years!
In honor of Suarez’ achievement, we’ve decided to take a look back at some of his best goals. YouTube channel T-Ball.com has it compiled neatly in the video below. Check it out:
4th on the list is Josep Samitier with 184 goals; 3rd is Ladislao Kubala with 194 goals; 2nd is César Rodríguez Álvarez with 232 goals. Of course, the number one spot is held by Lionel Messi, with 577 goals across his 14 years with Barca.
Considering Luis Suarez’ skill with the ball and ability to score from pretty much anywhere, it’s not hard to see that he’ll quickly climb his way up that list. He might even be able to make that 4th – or even the 3rd – spot before this season is even over. Surpassing Messi though – that’s a tall ask considering the Argentine only continues to rack up his numbers and is a long way from stopping.
