We’ve got another NBA WAG to add to our previous features – Hunter Mar. This stunner is the other half of Chicago Bulls shooting/point guard, Zach LaVine.
LaVine has not only made a name for himself as a great basketball player in general. His NBA career started back in 2014 when the Minnesota Timberwolves selected him with the 13th overall pick. He was only 19 years old at the time and had just finished his first season at UCLA.
His love for basketball dates back to his youth, however, and athleticism is in his blood. His father, Paul LaVine, played American football and his mother, CJ, played softball. According to a Grantland article following LaVine’s career at UCLA, he first became interested in basketball after watching Michael Jordan in Space Jam. His father encouraged his passion, training him in their backyard. He later came to idolize Kobe Bryant, much like other 90s kids and fans of the sport.
In his rookie year with the Timberwolves, he won the 2015 NBA Slam Dunk contest. At that point, he was the youngest player to win since Kobe Bryant at 18 years old in 1997. He won again the following year, making him only the 4th player in league history to ever win consecutive dunk contests.
Pretty impressive, right? Even after surgery for a torn ACL on his knee in 2017, all eyes were on him on his first game back. But anyway, we’re not really here to talk about LaVine’s basketball career. What we really want to do is talk about his jaw-dropping girlfriend, Hunter.
Who is Hunter Mar?
Hunter also hails from Washington, where she attended Kentridge High School. Though LaVine was from a different school, they met and began dating while still in high school. Upon graduation, she went on to Seattle University. An athlete herself all throughout high school, she was on her university’s soccer team where she played as a midfielder.
According to her athlete profile, she had a pretty active extra-curricular life in high school. She was a member of the National Honor Society and Girls Honor, and was Homecoming Princess. She was also given various awards by the SPSL, a state-wide sports league for public and private schools in Washington.
In June 2018, Hunter officially graduated from Seattle University. It’s not clear what she’s up to career-wise post-graduation, but we do know one thing for sure: she’s getting a lot of beach time. In August 2018, Hunter and LaVine vacationed together in the Bahamas. A few weeks later, she posted more photos of herself on vacation but this time in Greece – Mykonos, and Santorini. It looks like this was a holiday taken without her other half. She posted some great photos though, luckily for us.
Considering her boyfriend’s fame, she’s managed to keep a pretty low profile for herself. Even her Instagram account, though boasting over 51K followers, has only 36 posts since the first in February 2014. Their relationship so far has been free from any scandals you would expect from a young pro-athlete like LaVine. They do seem very happy together and are never shy to show it on social media.

LaVine has credited her – and his family, of course – for his success on the court. Hunter can sometimes be seen supporting her beau from the sidelines. With LaVine recovered from the torn ACL, we can only hope to catch her on the Bulls sidelines more often in the upcoming NBA season! While waiting for the first regular season Bulls game on October 18, here are some photos to tide you over:
