Once you see Katherine Webb, it’s hard to take your eyes off her. With her striking blue eyes and long, brunette locks, she’s a looker if I ever saw one. In a nutshell, she’s a model, beauty queen, TV personality, talented artist, mother, and wife of Oakland Raiders quarterback, AJ McCarron.
Who is Katherine Webb?
Leading Up To Her Fame
Born on April 24, 1989, Katherine Webb is originally from Montgomery, Alabama. She attended middle school and high school in Columbus, Georgia, before going back to Alabama to attend Auburn University and pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Administration. After graduating in 2011, she worked as a model training director and modeled with a few companies across the country.
Career and Mainstream Popularity
Her first exposure to the public eye was in her early university years in 2008. She participated in the Miss Georgia USA pageant that year and secured a spot in the semifinals, and that’s when she was able to kickstart her modeling career. She furthered her fame in 2012 when she won the Miss Alabama USA pageant that year. This propelled her into mainstream popularity – even more so when she placed in the Top 10 of the Miss USA 2012 competition.
Her true rise to fame wasn’t until 2013, however. By this time, she was already dating AJ McCarron – who was then still just a college football player with the University of Alabama. She was sitting on the sidelines during the 2013 BCS National Championship Game when the broadcast found and centered on her. Announcer Brent Musburger commented on her beauty, referring to her as “beautiful” and a “lovely lady”. He continued by telling his broadcast partner, former quarterback Kirk Herbstreit, that “quarterbacks get all the good-looking women”. He ended his brief commentary about Katherine by advising the youth in Alabama to “start getting the football out and throwing it around the backyard with Pops”.
Seemingly overnight, the media coverage went viral and everyone was asking, “Who is Katherine Webb??” A testament to the curiosity is the 100 thousand or so followers she gained on her Instagram over the next 24 hours, including other famous athletes like LeBron James, Darnell Dockett, and Aaron Murray.
Musburger received a lot of backlash for his comments on Katherine, but she was quick to come to his defense. She insisted that he wasn’t being sexist since he didn’t make any derogatory comments and instead called them beautiful, which she claims is something to be flattered about.
After this sudden catapult into fame, Donald Trump actually reached out to her to offer her a spot on the judging panel of Miss USA. However, she instead accepted an offer from Inside Edition to cover the Super Bowl XLVII, giving her the first opportunity to establish herself as a credible TV personality as well. Following that, she participated in a reality show called Splash but had to withdraw in the 5th week due to a back injury. At around the same time, she hit a pretty high achievement in the modeling industry: being featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.
Now, she models professionally for various clients across the country, including this super sexy ad for Carl’s Jr.:
When she’s not modeling, being a supportive wife and doting mother, she’s painting. Her contemporary paintings are absolutely beautiful, and you can check them out on the Instagram account dedicated to her art. She’s represented by Buckhead Art Company, where she is an artist-in-residence.
Her Relationship with AJ McCarron
Katherine Webb and AJ McCarron met in November 2012, when some of Katherine’s friends invited AJ to an event they were all attending. Her friends referred to her as Miss Alabama USA< and he got curious. He admitted to finding her pretty after meeting her, but he tweeted that she “might be a little [too] famous” and that she’s “probably got all of the athletes after her”. His hesitations seem to have been for nothing though because by December, he was meeting her parents over the Christmas break.
A little over a year later in March 2014, the pair announced their engagement. In July 2014, they were married in Orange Beach, Alabama. It took a while for them to add to their family, but they welcomed their first son in May 2016 and another son in December 2018.
